Sairah Ijaz currently serves as the Chief Information Officer at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Her professional interest focus on leveraging data to enhance operations and facilitate more efficient product and service delivery. She believes in the power of data-driven decision-making to transform processes and deliver measurable improvements. With over 20 years of service to the federal government, her commitment to excellence is evident in her methodical approach to problem-solving where she enables strategic and innovative solutions. Her dedication to continuous improvement and her ability to translate complex data into actionable insights have made her a respected leader and a driving force behind many successes throughout her federal tenure.
In her role as the Deputy CIO, Mrs. Ijaz oversaw HUD’s delivery of information technology solutions and services to enable the Department to meet its mission. As part of her primary responsibilities, she was charged with creating a dynamic and collaborative leadership team, along with establishing governance for IT operations. To support these critical duties, she directed strategic planning for technology implementation, maintained effective data governance, oversaw the IT cost management strategy, and leveraged stakeholder collaboration to drive digital transformation or improved business processes and an enhanced customer experience.
After earning her degree in Information Systems and Operations & Quality Management from the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park, Mrs. Ijaz went on to earn her certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA). She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Business Analytics at Georgetown University. She previously worked at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, U.S. Social Security Administration, and U.S. Government Accountability Office. Mrs. Ijaz is also on the Board for a 501c3 charity, Liver Mommas & Families, supporting families of children with life-threatening liver disease and/or liver transplants.
