Acting Chief Information Officer, Nuclear Regulatory Commission

Scott Flanders is the Acting CIO at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). As the Acting CIO, he plans, directs, and oversees resources to ensure the delivery of information technology and information management services that are critical to support the mission, goals, and priorities of the agency. Mr. Flanders joined the NRC in 1991 as a reactor engineer intern and has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since 2004. Throughout his career he has led a diverse portfolio of technical organizations supporting the NRC’s Nuclear Reactor and Nuclear Materials regulatory programs. Prior to joining the Office of the Chief Information Officer, he served as the Director of the Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis in the Office of New Reactors, and the Deputy Director of the Division of Waste Management and Environmental Review in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards.
